A little backstory before more backstory

My name is Alejandro, or Alex, I’m cool with either. I work in Data Analytics by day, and my night job..well there isn’t one. I used to work in tech but that got old, fast. But neither of these were even my first choice for a career. Not. One. Bit.

Graphic Design on the Side? Now?

So my day job is, FINE. But my first passion is drawing, animation, and design. The thing is, I took a chance a few years back when I left tech and pursued analytics. Zero regerts. But what if I did this on the side, you know, as a hobby? Why not, right?

Enter, the Etsy Shop

So the shop, which this whole site is really following, was about giving me an outlet to create digital designs, and hopefully turn it into a hobby that could self sustain itself. That really means finding a way for my creative side to fund itself and “reward” the learning and growth. It’s kind of like giving that side of my skillset a reason beyond “just for fun.” So how can I hold myself accountable? The shop. The increased challenge, and frankly learning from others and seeing what I can learn from my peers. I have lots of work to do.

So Here We are

To date since I started this journey I have researched Canva, Photoshop, ProCreate, Kittl, Midjourney and more. Then there’s the fact that I dont use Social Media so I had to learn to use ALL of them. In fact, today I just realized Pinterest is a search engine. Huh.. So here we go, let’s blog about this journey and see just how good or not so good my skills get. OMG, what if the shop does super good though?

Well, that’s enough rambling for now. Hopefully you can see why I am here, what my motivation is, and maybe learn a little more about what you are capable of too.
